During my research into the Timbaland music video, I realised the intertextuality to the film 'Sin City' directed by Frank Miller. The use of dark streets and animated rain adds to the comic book effect of the film and the effects in the Timbaland video are very similar.
The shot in the music video where the camera pans over the city also replicates that of the shot of Sin City in the trailer, this shows that the creators of Timbaland's video may be directly basing the video on the movie.
