Timbaland's Throw it on Me Video

The new video for Timbaland's song 'Throw it on me' struck me as an interesting idea when I first saw it, the use of the big fonts and boxed off shots create intertextuality for the audience, and give a comic book effect which I would be interested to use in my own music video.

I think the use of some of the lyrics being written across the shots of the artist is very effective and makes the video more interesting than just a simple performance by the artist. I especially like the use of the words coming out of the artist's mouth, I think this is a clever effect but I feel if it was not done properly, it could make the video look very amateuristic.

What strikes me as being very impressive about the video is the combination of animation and real footage. In one shot, Timbaland is performing with animated rain falling around him. I am interested to use effects like that in my own video. I also like the use of the split screen to show the Hives and Timbaland performing at the same time.

I also like the idea of the video being a story that needs to be followed and the use of the moving camera shot of 'To be continued' also creates intertextuality to other comics.

Watching this video has given me a few ideas of what I want to include in my music video, however during my generic research I will be looking at several others as well.
